Febfast challenges Australians to give up alcohol for a month
Around the nation, hundreds of Australians are getting ready to give up alcohol for the month of February as part of the FebFast challenge.
February 2010 will mark FebFast’s third year of encouraging Australians to give their bodies a break from alcohol for a month and, at the same time, raise money for organisations throughout Australia working to reduce alcohol and other drug-related harms among young people.
Over the past two years more than 3500 people have taken up the FebFast challenge and raised over $700 000.
Why you should get involved
In addition to raising money, there are a number of personal benefits to be gained from an alcohol-free month. FebFast provides an opportunity for people to reflect on their drinking habits and perhaps make changes. This may be particularly relevant following an over-indulgent Christmas and New Year period. An alcohol-free February can also save you money!
How to get on board
To sign up simply head to the FebFast website below. This year FebFast is double daring you, so get a friend involved for extra support.
Alternatively, you can sponsor someone else’s efforts.
Proceeds from FebFast 2010 will go to the Australian Drug Foundation, Youth Substance Abuse Service, Mater Hospital’s Adolescent Drug & Alcohol Withdrawal Service, Ted Noffs Foundation and FebFast’s grants programs.
